We’re only six episodes into this season, but so far, I think Love Is Blind season 10 might be the best one yet. This latest season saw 32 singles from Ohio enter the pods, and of that group, seven couples got engaged. (Well, technically eight did, but one couple was cut for...reasons!) However, only six couples of those couples headed to Mexico for their honeymoon, while one pair did a solo vacay in Malibu. So...why did Vic and Christine miss out on the group trip?

As the first couple to get engaged this season, it was clear from the start that Vic and Christine only had eyes for each other...which is fabulous! But also, apparently, doesn’t make for great TV. According to LIB creator Chris Coelen, the fact that Christine and Vic had no other strong connections (and therefore, didn’t really need closure from any exes) is part of the reason they were sent on a solo trip to Malibu.
“Part of what people do when they go to Mexico is they resolve unresolved threads,” Chris explained to Entertainment Weekly. “That’s part of the point of going to Mexico and seeing all the others, and Vic and Christine really didn’t have any of those unresolved threads. So they were the ones that we picked to go on the trip by themselves.”
The other reason? It came down to the budget. After the pods, the show only selects five or six engaged couples to continue the experience (no matter how many couples end up engaged)...and while they chose to follow seven couples this season, the decision didn’t come without some challenges.
“Normally, we would only track up to five and sometimes we’ve stretched to six—even if we have more engagements than that, we can sort of zero in [on who to drop],” said Chris. “And this time, we couldn’t. We really felt like that we had an abundance of terrific choices, so we made the decision to follow all of them.”
He continued, “Part of the reason that we can’t follow more than normally five, and sometimes we stretch to six, is that we don’t have the budget to do that... We don’t even have the budget to follow six, but we stretch, and we figure it out. And so there’s absolutely no way we could do it with seven.”
Luckily, it seems Vic and Christine had a fab time on their romantic getaway, and I’m looking forward to following their journey back in Ohio when the next batch of episodes drop!
